The Thunder Burrito Wins First Place-for non-track team

We’d like to thank everyone who helped us along the Fireball Run 2008 Rally. The good news is that our team came in FIRST PLACE (for non-track teams). This is an incredible achievement done in great part to our E-Pit Crew. The greates news of all though is that by day 5 of the FBR one of the children assigned to the Rally had been identified and reunited with their loved ones! That brings the total to 24 children between last year and this year that have been reunited. We are working on getting some pictures posted perhaps on You Tube. Revisit the site to check them out…

Day 3

Today was a long day. We departed Jackson, Mississippi at 8AM and headed to Hattisburg, Mississippi. Along the way we deciphered clues that had us stop at the Elvis is Alive Musuem where we “mourned” a wax figure of Elvis (strange but cool) and then headed to a cool old factory turned restaurant where it seemed that half of the city of Hattisburg was there including the Mayor. The city of Hattisburg rolled out the red carpet with a great lunch and an even better blues band. After lunch our clues directed us to Tuscaloosa. In Tuscaloosa we had a “fishing contest” where we had to catch a catfish before getting our next clues. The other stops included a visit to Big Daddy’s BBQ, the Bear Bryant Museum (yes a musuem for a football coach) and a precision driving course where we had to wear goggles that impaired our vision in a way to resemble driving under the influence. The day’s last event was very cool where we all asked to purchase children’s books and donate them at City Hall where Tuscaloosa Mayor Maddox was waiting for us. Although there are about 50 teams competing, collectively we donated almost 2,000 books for the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Program. Tomorrow’s destination… Tupelo, Mississippi- birthplace of Elvis!

Day 2 Summary

Our day started with a blessing by the Bishop of Shreveport wishing all the Fireballers well and praying for the well being of the missing children. From there we had to find the Bonnie & Clyed Museum as well as the site where they were ambushed. We were hosted by the city of Delhi for a great southern lunch. As we left Louisiana and entered Mississippi we had to fing the historic Courthouse Museum, the place where the first Coca Cola was bottled and an incredible visit to the Military Park all in Vicksburg. After that we entered Jackson where we took a picture with a statue of the great Medgar Evars, found the remains of the USS Mississippi Battleship 2, and located a Flying Fish.
